Froesa Family from Krefeld visit Leicester
FROESA FAMILY FROM KREFELD VISIT LEICESTER
Fred Rankin (CLETA Chair) reports: On 1st April 2024, the Froesa family from Krefeld arrived in Leicester in time to watch the Championship Football match between Leicester City and Norwich City. Herbert Froesa and his wife, Christiane, together with their two grandsons, Maximillian and Alexander, originally visited Liverpool as part of their short Easter visit to England and then travelled on to Leicester.
It was the intention of Herbert and Maximillian to see the world famous Leicester City Football team in action and I was able (through a friend of mine, Glen Smith, a season ticket holder) to get them tickets for the game. I joined up with them inside the King Power stadium and we quickly got to know each other. The Froesa family must have been a lucky omen for us as we were entertained by a really good football match which ended in triumph for our beloved Leicester City team – the score-line being 3-1.

In Krefeld, Herbert and Maximillian are keen supporters of EFC Uerdingen 05 (It was founded in 1905). KFC Uerdingen 05 is a German football club in the Uerdingen district of the city of Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. The former Bundesliga side enjoyed its greatest successes in the 1980s but now plays in the fifth-level Oberliga.
Outside of the Foxes Gift Shop we exchanged various football memorabilia, including scarves and a football jersey.

Later that evening, several members of the CLETA Committee together with Glen Smith met up with the Froesa family in a local carvery and enjoyed a lovely evening together getting to know each other.

The following day, the Froesa family were given a guest pass at the Richard III Visitor Centre and enjoyed a look at the exhibition describing the story behind discovering the remains of our ‘very famous King’.
After returning back home to Krefeld, Herbert sent a very warm thank you to all those involved with CLETA who made their visit such an unforgettable occasion. He looks forward to welcoming any one from Leicester who makes the journey to Krefeld in the future.
