Cleta visit Krefeld Mayor - City of Leicester European Twinning Association

Mayor of Krefeld welcomed a visit from their twin city of Leicester (05.02.2019)

The new leadership of the twin City of Leicester European Twinning Association (CLETA) has featured on a three-day visit to Krefeld. Chairman Fred Rankin and his deputy John Townsend met with Lord Mayor Frank Meyer, as well as some administration staff. During the course of the visit, various rounds of discussions focused on topics related to the twinning, especially starting points in the youth sector.

Silke Wintersig, head of youth, invited Leicester to take part in the soapbox race again this year.

With five students from the Berufskolleg Kaufmannsschule (BKMMS) in Krefeld visiting Leicester during the coming Summer period for multi-week internships, Mr Rankin and Mr Townsend visited the college.

They were introduced to various sections of the college by language students who were able to use their command of English for the first time in a formal capacity. Although extremely nervous, the students carried out their duties in an excellent manner

Five apprentices from the city of Krefeld will also spend three weeks of their practical training period in the administration of Leicester.

During their stay in Krefeld, guests from Leicester also visited the main fire and rescue vigil and were given a guided tour of the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum.
