Lord Mayor, Councillor Bhupen Dave, visits Leicester Athena Volleyball Club
The Chair, Paul Kaerger, of the Leicester Athena Volleyball Club was honoured to welcome very distinguished visitors to one of their practice sessions. The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leicester came to watch the first team (Phoenix) and the second team (Nova) have a scrimmage match.
We were delighted to be able to showcase the club and explain the breadth of what we do and to hear the Lord Mayor’s reminiscence about playing volleyball in his youth.
Leicester Phoenix team are visiting Strasbourg again this September to take part in the annual Strasbourg International Volleyball Tournament in which they achieved a very satisfying 3rd place last year.
