LAST VISIT BEFORE ‘LOCKDOWN’ 2020

Visit to Leicester by Krefeld Police Officers

28th February – 1st March 2020

IPA Krefeld: Dominik, Christian, Guido and Dirk – IPA Leicester: Tony and Simon

The last visit of our twinned cities took place during the weekend of February/March 2020, just before lockdown restrictions were imposed following the arrival of Covid 19 in the UK.  Four police officers from the Krefeld Branch of the International Police Association (IPA) were warmly welcomed by Leicester Branch members.

During their visit, the police officers attended a premier league football match Leicester against Chelsea played at ‘The Foxes’ King Power Stadium and watched live televised coverage of the France v England game in the 6 Nations Rugby match screened at ‘The Tigers’ Mattioli Woods Stadium.  They were treated to preferential treatment at both clubs and allowed to go on tours of both club facilities.

During the Friday and Saturday evenings, the officers met up socially with Leicestershire IPA members for meals and, of course, some alcoholic refreshments!

They thoroughly enjoyed their stay and arrangements were in hand for Leicester to pay them a return visit towards the end of the year.  However, the pandemic has forced the return visit to be delayed until further notice.
