LEICESTER ATHENA VOLLEYBALL CLUB MOVE TO NEW PREMISES!

As reported by Coach, Paul Kaerger:

Leicester Athena has had a momentous summer.  Firstly, we celebrated our 10-year anniversary with a gala ball at the Holiday Inn in Leicester.

Then we moved to a new venue.  Huncote Leisure Centre, which will be home for all six of our squads from now on.  This comes after an unprecedented investment in a new flooring system by Sport England, Volleyball England and Blaby District Council.

We have all settled in at our new location and look forward to our new season.  Our first home league matches will be on 21st and 28th November. Matches will start at 1 pm for anyone interested in coming along to support – location is (Huncote Leisure Centre (Sport Field Lane, Huncote, LE9 3BN).

With regard to Twinning, we sent a team of players to Krefeld in May to play in VBV’s summer beach tournament.  The players were all amazed by the generosity and hospitality of their hosts.   The Krefeld team returned to England a couple of months ago to play in a tournament arranged by Phil Cobb, a long-time supporter of twinning.

A final note to say a big thank you to CLETA for providing us with a grant to help offset the cost of the visit, it was very much appreciated.
